Why it is time for you to quit Rise of Civilizations

I usually pay close attention to my addictions, but somehow I decided to download and try out RoC (Rise of Civilizations). It is a strategy game where you and your alliance try to conquer a kingdom.

After a couple weeks, my alliance is in a better shape than when it started. Most inactive players have left by now and 5 or 6 of us are growing strong. After a slow start, I raise my city to level 13. I have an important role as officer in the alliance, and lead some initiative. I am in the top 3 for most rankings (Individual power, 499814, 3rd; Kills, 113312, 2nd; Research: 60400, 2nd, etc.)

The game is pretty addictive, what you do when you play is mostly going around and develop your city, gathering resources and fighting barbarians around. There are daily quest to give you boosts and keep you active. I have reach a level where most my buildings and developments take several hours, and so I don’t have to come back every few minutes to take a new action. However, I still spend a lot of time fighting barbarians. Worse, I need to be active when my alliance plans an attack or when I am myself under attack. Learning about the different strategies, and simple ways to grow faster than other people takes some time.

My last fight!

To be entirely honest, I am not sure what made me addicted to this game in the first place. Maybe…
